These pulses acquire and maintain the brain's attention, and rapidly tease it into a more efficient way of operating. This more efficient mode quickly becomes habit. The brain, after sufficient sessions, learns how to keep improving on its own. Improvement is frequently noticed following the first session.
Although the feedback signal is ultra low power, it results in a measurable change in the brainwaves, all without conscious effort on the part of the individual receiving the feedback. In the process, it begins to establish a new Central Nervous System set point. As sessions are initiated, the effects may sometimes be noticed for only a few days. As the sessions continue, effects are typically noticed for longer and longer periods of time, until there is no loss of effect between sessions.
HPN, High-Performance Neurofeedback, is a type of brainwave based biofeedback that has shown clinical efficacy in addressing the symptoms of Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Post-Concussive Syndrome, Anxiety, Depression, and Attention Deficit issues. The HPN system is implemented using specific EEG hardware. Although it may seem contradictory, it can be calming, energizing and mood-lifting simultaneously. Head pain often dissipates quickly. Foggy thinking and confusion typically give way to clear thinking and a more even, more elevated, and less emotionally reactive, mood.
The system includes hardware interface and software, and comes complete with a Welcome Kit of leads and supplies needed to get started. A complimentary remote install is included, along with technical support for a year.
There is a 1-year manufacturer's warranty on the hardware.
The computer, not included with the system, needs to be a multi-core laptop running at 2GHz or better, with a minimum of 4GB RAM and at least one USB (2.0 or better) port. It must run Windows 10 operating system.
During the session the client sits in a comfortable chair, typically for about 30-45 minutes. The Practitioner (you) places small EEG leads at different spots on the trainee’s head using a conductive gel. A computer that is connected to the EEG interface module analyzes the brainwave signal in real time and signals the interface module to produce feedback that tracks, and yet whose frequency is a bit different than, the brain’s own signal at that point in time. It is almost as though the brain experiences itself looking back at itself, and in the process adjusts its own behavior patterns to more efficient, higher functioning, and more flexible ways of operating.
The process is comfortable and typically relaxing. Results are often noticed immediately, frequently before the end of the session. Clients often report feeling more relaxed or less anxious. Many report a "clear windshield" effect.
The result of this training is a changed brainwave state and greater ability for the brain to regulate itself for higher level, more flexible functioning. It typically begins working immediately, and the results are generally felt within the first 1-4 sessions. Sessions can be scheduled 1-3 times per week, and a typical course may run 10-24 sessions as results consolidate and become lasting.
